Match Report Versus Sandersons ( 16/2/08) KO 2.00pm Grayfields - Away Raglan scored 3 times in the first half to
effectively win the match - but were at times
indifferent in the 2nd half & allowed Sandersons
back into the game.
Martin Ashley put in a good run down the left wing
and his searching pass found top scorer Shaun
Atkinson who thumped the ball home. Two minutes
later Iain Bickerstaff delivered a perfect corner &
Robbie Thompson shot from the edge of the box to
take Raglan to a 2 goal cushion. Thompsons
persistence was rewarded when he wouldn’t give up a
goalmouth battle & his pass to Atkinson was inch
perfect - Atkinson again hit home and Raglan were
cruising. All 3 goals came in the space of 6
minutes. Sandersons hit a goal back before the
break to give them a bit of a lift.
H - T 1 - 3
Sandersons were the better team for much of the 2nd
half and were given a lifeline when some sloppy
defending played a part in their 2nd goal to put
pressure on the League leaders. Again Sandersons were
doing all the attacking & but for poor finishing
and a goalmouth clearance - could have drawn level.
Kevin Bennet capitalised on Bickerstaffs through
ball to deftly lob the on - rushing keeper to ease
the Raglan nerves a bit.
Sandersons came at Raglan for the remainder of the
game but were unable to get any more goals.
Best for Raglan were Liam Bromley, Iain Bickerstaff
& 2 goal Atkinson.
F - T 2 - 4
